Refuge in the Storm
--
The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.
Nahum 1:7
Where do you run when trouble comes? Who do you trust when the walls are closing in?
It’s easy to run to the wrong things in this life, to try and cope with our troubles in unhealthy ways. I’ve been there all too often. Running to a relationship for comfort, running to the approval of others, or running to substance abuse. However it looks for you, running to the things of the world will never satisfy.
There is only one who we should run to!
Jesus!
For He is good, and provides shelter in the storm!
The other day my family and I were at the beach, enjoying a beautiful sun filled day. The water was nice, the kids were happy, and the temperature was pronounced! You couldn’t ask for a better day, all was right in the world!
But then over the treetops a storm started to brew. The once striking blue sky, became overcome with darkness. Within minutes torrential rain started to pour, it was a mad scramble as everyone dashed about to find shelter.
The storm had come and shelter was needed. There we stood, five people underneath a floaty tube raised above our heads. The beach was now empty as everyone fled for shelter.
You see, when troubles comes, and the storm comes we need shelter. How amazing is this, that our perfect and loving Father provides shelter in the storm!!
Refuge: a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.
Thank you Lord that no matter what comes our way, we can always run into your arms, and there we find shelter!
Be encouraged today, and no matter what you’re going through. Know there is a God who loves you so much!!
